Upgrade your e-MTB protection with our Heavy-Duty Aluminum Alloy Motor Guard, custom-designed for the YT Decoy Mk2 Core Series (EP8 & EP801 Motors). While the stock plastic guard offers basic coverage, trail riding often exposes your motor to severe rock strikes and debris. Our guard serves as a sacrificial yet sturdy outer shell, laser-cut from robust 0.12-inch (3mm) aluminum alloy and formed to fit precisely over the factory plastic component.Rugged & Raw Design This guard features a raw, slightly brushed aluminum finish (no anodizing). It is designed for function first—slight scuffs from the manufacturing process may be present, adding to its industrial aesthetic. It is built to take a beating so your motor doesn't have to.Fitment & Installation Motors: Compatible with Shimano EP8 and EP801 systems on YT Decoy Core models. Installation: Attaches using the provided longer screws. We recommend blue threadlocker for security. Do not overtighten; the guard needs to "breathe" slightly to absorb energy. Battery Fitment: 540 Battery: Direct fit, no modifications needed. 720 Battery: Requires minor sanding of the bottom battery cowl (refer to images/instructions). Maintenance & Repair While sturdy, the aluminum alloy can deform under extreme impact—this is intentional to absorb energy and protect the plastic/motor underneath. If deformation occurs, simply remove the guard, reshape it with tools, and use the included 60-grit and 180-grit sponge sanding blocks to smooth out any burrs or gouges. This kit empowers you to maintain your bike's armor ride after ride.

This aluminum alloy guard installs directly over the existing plastic motor cover, acting as a second layer of armor. Includes extended screws for a secure, seamless fit using existing mounting points
• Reinforced 0.12" (3mm) Aluminum Alloy: Laser-cut from heavy-duty 0.12-inch (3mm) thick aluminum alloy, this skid plate is designed to absorb hard rock strikes that would otherwise shatter the stock plastic guard. It provides critical impact resistance for aggressive trail riding and enduro courses.
• Raw Brushed Finish & Industrial Aesthetics: Features a functional, non-anodized brushed aluminum finish. Minor surface scuffs from machining are normal and emphasize its rugged purpose. We recommend using a dab of blue threadlocker (not included) on screws and tightening to "snug" to allow the guard to flex and "breathe" during impacts
• Battery Compatibility Note: Fits seamlessly with the 540Wh battery. For the 720Wh battery, a minor DIY modification is required (shaving a small amount of material from the bottom battery cowl) to ensure clearance. See product images for modification details.
• Includes Maintenance Sanding Kit: We understand that rock strikes happen. Each kit comes with 60-grit and 180-grit sponge sanding blocks. Use these to smooth out gouges, burrs, or deformation after heavy hits, or to maintain the brushed finish, keeping your guard functional and looking ready for the next ride.
